Howdy Dancers,
Well, it seems we got through the New Year without any hitches (I mean the millennium bug - not dancing!!). We would both just like to say how lovely it is to see so many  familiar faces back - and of course, so many new ones !!
Now on to some more important news. As many of you know, Eddie Marks from the Didcot class had his hip operation over the New Year. Wow!, he looks like a new man. Girls watch out! Nice to see you looking so well, Eddie. A collection was made for him and we raised enough money to buy him a silver belt buckle, which he has told me he will cherish. Thanks to everyone for   being so generous.
We haven't been able to finalise anything in the way of hall changes as of yet. We have been given options at Didcot and Bicester, which we are looking into. We will let you know as soon as we know anything ourselves.
The Saturday morning class at Marston is gradually picking up support, so we plan to leave the day/time unchanged for the time being.
We are holding a Charity Line Dance Party on 1st April 2000 at the OXSRAD Sports Centre, just off the Oxford Northern Bypass. Money raised will be going to the OXSRAD fund raising appeal to improve facilities at the centre. Tickets will be sold on the door:- Adult dancers £5, Non-dancers / Children £2. Entry will be
FREE for anyone raising £10 or over in sponsorship. If you would like a sponsor form, please let us know. There will also be a raffle, so if anyone has any prizes they would like to donate, it would be much appreciated. Posters are now available , so please take as many as possible in order to advertise the event. Members from other clubs will also be very welcome. Please try to support the event any way you can. It will be a fancy dress evening (optional), and as it will be April 1st, we would like you to dress as some sort of fool, e.g. jester, clown, etc. There will be a prize given to the best (or worst!) dressed fool. As with any of our events, all beginner's dances are walked through beforehand, so all levels are catered for.
At last we are now able to produce printed scripts. We will be bringing along to each class scripts for all the dances taught or revised on that day, plus a selection of other popular dances. The scripts cost 20p each and this is purely to cover the cost of the printing. If there is a particular script that you would like a copy of, please let us know, and we will try our best to find one.
You must all have seen by now the Blue Ridge T-shirt that Jo wears with the USA flag and the boots on the back. We are now able to produce T-shirts for you with any design you wish (as long as the designs are not copyrighted). Costs will depend on  T-shirt size and print design. Anybody who is interested, please have a chat to Pete.
One last piece of news - We will be holding the new club's 1st birthday party on 23rd June 2000. It's a little early, but we want to try and make it before everyone goes on holiday. The venue will be Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington. Part of the evening's entertainment will be provided by
The Nadine Somers Band (as reviewed in Feb 2000's Linedancer magazine). Tickets are on sale now for club members, and will be on  general sale in early March. The event will be big and an absolute must, so you will need to get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
It's going to be a busy year for the club, so we'd best have a lie down now before it all starts !! Bye for now,
Jo & Pete
